Spirit
of Texas Salsa
Dixie
and I started Spirit of Texas Salsa Company in
April of 2004. We always felt there was plenty
of room for competition and felt we have a unique
product which can compete in larger markets. Sadly,
our optimism and determination was not enough
to persuade large retail buyers. It has been a
great adventure and we have learned many valuable
lessons. Unfortunately, like many companies this
year we find ourselves at a financial impasse.
Folks are hanging on to their money, understandably
so while increasing production and advertising
costs far exceed sales.
We
have been unable to hire a suitable co packer
to continue the manufacturing process. We refuse
to pay the ridiculous production costs we have
been quoted simply because we are a small business.
We would never ask our customers to pay the outrageous
price we would have to charge for SOTS. Large
retailers are necessary to a product's success
as we have learned and no retailer would touch
us with the kind of increase we would have to
pass along.
After
a recent reality check we have made the decision
to cease production at this time. To the many
friends and family who have stood behind us, we
thank you. There were many times you picked us
up when we faltered and your unwavering devotion
is a priceless treasure we can never repay. The
small businesses who have been so loyal to our
product have been our mainstay and we can never
thank you enough. Our hope is to maintain those
bonds while we take some time to develop several
new products we have had on the back burner. The
lessons we have learned along the way will be
very beneficial when we re-launch the SOTS brand.
Our plan is to take this time to work on these
new products and reintroduce the SOTS brand at
the Texas State Fair in 2010.
Thank
you for your support and we will keep our website
updated as we venture into more new areas.
